Mold All Over the Walls & More
The mold growth in the basement was pretty bad. There was a huge water leak and the basement got flooded. The buildup of moisture combined with the high humidity levels in the basement was the perfect habitat for mold to breed and thrive in.
The Fridge Too
There was even mold in the fridge! With the owner's permission, we disposed of the fridge as well as every single contaminated item in the basement.
Clean Up and MAPS
Once that was done, we cleaned up all the puddles of water in the basement. Next, we treated the entire area with a solution called Mold Abatement Polymer Solutions, or MAPS 1 for short. This is an EPA registered antimicrobial that targets mold at its DNA and kills it immediately. Once we finished, we then applied our mold stain remover and scrubbed any and all mold stains.
Now Comes the Sealant
The next thing we did was treat the entire basement from top to bottom with our patented sealant called MAPS 2. This application encapsulates the surface mold is growing on and renders it inert, harmless, and non-allergenic. It's also moisture sensitive and will reactivate whenever it gets wet to prevent any future mold growth!
Dehumidifier That's Suited for Basements
Finally, to control the humidity levels in the basement we installed a Sedona dehumidifier. This dehumidifier can effectively cover indoor living spaces over 3000 square feet, making it well-suited for basements over 40" high, and will properly control the humidity levels in the basement!
