Weight of the Insulation
When we inspected the crawl space, we noticed that it was incredibly humid and that the insulation was hanging down, which means that there is too much moisture in the crawl space.
Found Some Mold
When we removed the insulation, we found mold growth behind it.
Another Portion
There was another portion of the crawl space that the homeowner was renovating and attempting to encapsulate it on his own. During the renovations he opened a few of the vents, which caused the moisture issues.
Remove it All
We removed the contaminated insulation and other debris and sealed off the vents (the homeowner will finish encapsulating his crawl space at a later date). We treated the affected areas with our EPA registered antimicrobial called MAPS 1, which attacks mold at its DNA and kills it instantly.
The Next Step
We then scrubbed away the mold and applied MAPS 2, which is our patented sealant that encapsulates the surface mold is growing on and renders the mold non-allergenic and harmless. MAPS 2 is also moisture-sensitive and reactivates whenever it gets wet to prevent the return of mold. Since the homeowner already purchased a commercial grade dehumidifier and will install it on his own, mold growth will no longer be an issue.
