Mold in the Corner
Within a few moments of our inspection, we found mold growth in the corner of the drywall. After measuring the moisture in the basement with our moisture reader, which is a device used to measure the moisture content in the pores of the wood, we determined that the cause of the mold was due to excessive moisture in the basement.
Mold in Another Section
Continuing our inspection, we found mold in another section on the drywall in the basement. Turns out that excessive moisture was seeping through the foundation behind the drywall.
Cut it Out
We removed the drywall and treated the area with an an EPA-registered, non-toxic antimicrobial solution called MAPS 1. MAPS 1 breaks down mold at a cellular level and kills it instantly.
Fully Treated
Once that solution dried, we applied a patented sealant called MAPS 2. This encapsulates mold, rendering it inert, harmless, and non-allergenic. MAPS 2 reactivates when it gets moist to prevent the growth of any future mold colonies. We also installed a SaniDry XP commercial dehumidifier to control the moisture levels in the basement. Once we were finished we recommended that the homeowner gets the foundation wall waterproofed to prevent moisture from seeping through the wall.
