Soiled Insulation
Unfortunately, as often happens, the wildlife ruined the attic insulation with their urine and droppings. Once the insulation is saturated with urine and contaminated with feces, it has to be removed.
Removing the Insulation
Urine and droppings are a bio-hazard that may contain dangerous droppings. Once the droppings dry out and are disturbed, airborne particles can enter the air and travel on air currents throughout the home. Occupants who breathe in this contaminated air risk a variety of serious respiratory conditions. Also, the smell of this waste material can be an attractant for other wildlife as well.
Mold Discovered
While performing the clean-out work in the attic, we noticed that there was also mold formation. The homeowner wanted the mold treated immediately. We treated the mold with an antimicrobial application called MAPS 1, which is an EPA registered product that attacks mold on a cellular level and immediately kills it. Next, we used our mold stain remover and scrubbed away all the mold growth throughout the area.
After mold treatment in Spring Lake
Afterward, we applied our patented sealant called MAPS 2, which is a moisture-sensitive application that encapsulates the surface mold is growing on and renders it harmless, inert, and non-allergenic. MAPS 2 will also reactivate whenever it gets wet to prevent future mold growth.
Continued Removing the Insulation
Once we finished the mold treatment we continued tearing out the contaminated insulation and then disinfected the attic area to remove any trace or smell of an infestation.
