Mold Grows Throughout Flooded Basement in Rumson, NJ
Challenge
This homeowner in Rumson, NJ had a pipe that bursted in his basement and flooded the area. With the combination of the moisture and high humidity levels in the basement, mold started to grow. Since the owner uses our Pest Control services he knew that we had a Mold Removal department, gave us a call, and we were sent out.
After fully examining the basement, we found a lot of mold growing on and behind the sheetrock, in the insulation, on the ceiling tiles, and even on the carpet! Unfortunately, the structural integrity of these items were not salvageable and a full tear out was needed.
Solution
So we removed all the contaminated materials and disposed of them properly. Next, we treated every single square inch of the basement with our EPA registered antimicrobial called MAPS 1. MAPS 1 is designed to attack mold at its DNA and kill it immediately. Once that was completed, we applied our mold stain remover and scrubbed any and all mold stains. Next, we applied MAPS 2.
MAPS 2 is our patented sealant that encapsulates the surface mold is growing on and renders it harmless, inert, and non-allergenic. It's also moisture sensitive and will reactivate whenever it gets wet to prevent any future mold growth. Lastly, we installed a Sani-Dry Sedona dehumidifier. This dehumidifier cost less to run than other dehumidifiers, covers over 3000 square feet, are energy efficient, and will properly control the humidity levels in the basement.
