Laundry Room Causes Mold in Apartment Building in Freehold, NJ
Challenge
A property manager in Freehold, NJ received a call from his maintenance team that a pipe had burst in the laundry room earlier that week and, although they were able to stop the leak and repair the pipe, mold had developed. Fortunately, it occurred in an unused portion of the apartment complex that was currently under construction. So the property manager called our office and we were sent out.
We equipped our personal protective equipment and began inspecting the building. There was mold forming all over the trims in the laundry room and the hallway. Usually, we're able to treat mold in its place without tearing out any materials, but unfortunately, the structural integrity of the walls and flooring had been compromised and we had no choice but to tear out the moldy sheetrock and flooring.
Solution
After removing the contaminated materials, we applied our EPA registered antimicrobial called Mold Abatement Polymer Solutions 1, or MAPS 1 for short. MAPS 1 attacks mold at its DNA and instantly kills it. Afterward, we applied our patented sealant that'll encapsulate the surface mold is growing on and renders the mold non-allergenic and harmless. This product is called MAPS 2. MAPS 2 is also moisture sensitive, so it'll reactivate whenever it gets wet to prevent the return of mold growth.
