The new way to kill mold and keep it from coming back.
Serving Central NJ, Middletown, Woodbridge, Toms River
A Brick, NJ, homeowners were cleaning out their basement and removing some unwanted furniture. When moving a piece of furniture away from the wall, they found some mold growth on the paneling. The homeowners immediately realized they had a problem and contacted us to have the mold treated.
Mold will attach to any surface containing organic material, including most building materials made with wood or natural fibers. Mold often forms in basements and crawl spaces because of high humidity levels and since these areas of the home are either nonliving spaces or not utilized that often, mold can go undetected for quite some time. Unfortunately, mold spores from down below will travel on air currents throughout the home and is often responsible for unexplained “allergies” of the home’s occupants.
We treated the mold-contaminated paneling with an EPA-registered antimicrobial called MAPS 1, which attacks mold on a cellular level and kills it instantly. Next, we applied MAPS 2, which is our patented sealant that encapsulates the surface mold is growing on and renders the mold non-allergenic and harmless. MAPS 2 is also moisture-sensitive and reactivates whenever it gets wet to prevent the return of mold.
Lastly, we installed a commercial-grade SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. These dehumidifiers are specifically designed to work in the challenging environment of basements and crawl spaces and operate 24/7, turning on and off automatically using a built-in hygrometer. There is no water pan to empty or overflow. Instead, these worry-free machines are installed to drain into a sump pump or other drainage system. These dehumidifiers keep down indoor humidity and moisture to levels where mold will not form.
