Mold in the Attic Removed in Brielle, NJ

This elderly homeowner in Brielle, NJ, called our office after his son-in-law noticed a large amount mold growth all over the beams in his attic. Mold often spreads in attics because this area often contains many of the key elements necessary for mold growth – water or moisture (especially with a roof leak), wood and other organic building materials on which to feed, and the right temperatures where mold will grow and thrive. Additionally, attics are often a non-living area of the home where people do not spend a great deal of time, so mold can spread over large areas before it is discovered.

Turns out that the attic fans were broken and the improper ventilation caused the mold to grow and flourish.  First, we treated the attic with our EPA registered antimicrobial called MAPS 1. This solution targets mold at its DNA and immediately kills it. Afterward, we applied our mold stain remover and scrubbed away all the mold stains. 

Lastly, we applied MAPS 2, which is our patented sealant that encapsulates the surface mold is growing on and renders it harmless and non-allergic. MAPS 2 is also sensitive to moisture and will reactivate whenever it gets wet to prevent any future mold growth. Once we were finished, the homeowner's son-in-law is going to replace the broken attic fans with new ones.
