Small Entrance
This job was a challenge due to the fact that both the entrance and the attic was extremely small.
We Made It
Fortunately, we were able to fit in just fine.
Lack of Ventilation
After inspecting the attic we found mold growth on the rafters. The cause of the mold was due to lack of ventilation.
Common Cause of Attic Mold
The most common cause of attic mold is inadequate ventilation. When there is not enough air circulation in the attic and moisture accumulates, the moisture doesn't evaporate and instead creates a damp, dark environment, which is perfect for mold growth.
MAP it Out
We treated the entire attic with an antimicrobial called Mold Abatement Polymer Solutions, or MAPS 1 for short. This solution targets mold on a DNA level and kills it instantly.
Our Advice
We then scrubbed away the mold and applied MAPS 2. MAPS 2 is patented sealant that renders mold harmless by encapsulating it. On our recommendation, the homeowner hired a contractor to install an attic fan in order for his attic to have proper ventilation and to prevent future mold growth.
